Shadowy and Torn Paper Effect

Take an image of your choice to imagemagick

Note down the size of your image

My image is 250x373.

Now go to view tool bar

Put white in fill color slot, change method to reset, and paint type to color

Activate the arrow by clicking on the image

You should see a white background now.

Go to decorate and put black border of size 10x10

Effect-> 10 spread

Effect-> 3x3 blur or gussian blur

Resize - 250x373! (don’t forget the ‘!’)

Now you have two choices:

Composite the original image as compose-> multiply and overlay for darker border

Or go to enhance- negate and compose-> screen for white border like torn paper.

You should see something like this after  using  negate

Here are the samples:

Barrel Inverse

F/x distortion allows you to distort images to create a new and unique effect. Following tutorial

teaches the use of this effect at imagemagick studio.

Choose and image and take it to imagemagick.

You can take the following image

At F/X type in the parameter: 0,0.2,0.2

Click on the distort button

Change distort type to barrel inverse

press effect.

Final Image-

Using barrel inverse you can many interesting effects; all you need is the right set of

parameters.

Monalisa was distorted by the parameter : 0,0.1,0.1

Distort type: barrel inverse.

Following tute shows another how you can distor image by same set of parameter.

Follow the above instruction.

Input  the parameter in the slot: 0,0.2,0.2,0.2

Change the VPM( virtual pixel method) to anything in the drop-down menu.

I used transparent for the following image and saved it in png format.

Checker tile and constant also  generate same effect.

This is an example of vpm-horizontal tile

This is the example of vpm-  mirror

Try other types of VPM in the list to create something very unique.

Imagemagick: SRT effect

VPM: Undefined and Mirror

Take any image you want

Note down the size and divide it by 3.

Mine is 360x288

After dividing by 3 I have 120x96

Go to F/X and type 0,0 0.5 25 120,96

Distort- distort type: SRT

Press effect.

Your final result should be somewhat like this

Now you can go back to F/X and change the virtual pixel method to mirror, tile, checker tile, etc

to achieve the best result.

The following image was created by changing the VPM to tile and then mirror.

vpm:tile

vpm: tile and mirror

Changing the parameters:

Increasing the digit with decimal will enlarge the image

Decreasing it will reduce the size of the image

Increasing the third digit will change the angular position of the image

Decreasing will do fix the position in straight line the. Therefore this number should be smaller
